The Hasselblad Masters Volume project 7: Enlighten
After being awarded the title of Hasselblad Master in the seventh edition of the international competition of the famous camera brand, Hasselblad commissioned Ramón Vaquero to design the category Fashion and Beauty to be part of the “Hasselblad Masters Volume 7: Enlighten”. Here you can see it in full:
The assignment consisted of carrying out a photographic project with the Hasselblad X2D camera in a continuous line of the award-winning images., allowing total creative freedom on the part of the organization. The work was coordinated with Hasselblad during its different pre-production phases, sessions and post-production.
The photographic series “Essentially”, formed by 16 images, part of creating each image from scratch in a neutral space like the studio. The construction of each photograph through lighting and color resources, as a gateway in a first impression, tries to explore the relationship of beauty with simplicity, questioning the lines that separate classic portraiture from beauty or fashion photography. Hence the importance in the choice and personal contribution of each model., trying to maintain an economy of elements in all aspects of each individual image and therefore of the entire collection of photographs.
Different specialized media published articles about the Hasselblad Masters at the time., as DPReview, Peta Pixel, Digital Camera World, Popular Photography, restless culture, Xataka, or Hasselblad's own channels on its website and social networks on multiple occasions. One of Ramón Vaquero's images came to occupy the Home from the German magazine Press Photo:
